  • NKU, as expected was able to lead this game wire-to wire and allow for a lot of rotation among players. NKU had 4 players play 20 or more minutes, and no player with more than the 23 that Ethan Elliot had. The offensive firepower has to be encouraging for Norse fans!

  • Every player who logged minutes scored and 11 guys got 10+ minutes tonight. This was a great rotation and opening night type of game.

The Tale of the Tape

  • UC Clermont: 24-73 (33%)/11-36 (31%)/10-14 (71%)
  • NKU forced 22 UC Clermont turnovers, however, the Norse had 18 turnovers themselves.
  • NKU won the rebounding battle 57-24, and dominated each of the following: second chance points, points in the paint, fast break points, points off turnovers, and bench points.

A Positive and A Negative

  • Overall, there isn’t much to be said about this win other than looking at the statistical breakdowns above.
  • A positive: NKU’s offense as a whole. Yes, I know it’s UC Clermont, but this is still an impressive outpouring from a team with massive question marks on offense heading into the year. Also, 15 steals from this Norse team leads to a lot of easy transition baskets which helps the offensive output!
  • A negative: NKU’s 18 turnovers. Yes, I know they had a multitude of possessions with the way the game flowed, but valuing the ball needs to be priority 1A this week in practice.

What’s Next

  • NKU heads on the road to Knoxville to play Tennessee at 3PM on SECN+!
