First and foremost, I hope that all of you all had a wonderful Holiday, despite the hiatus college basketball took!
ICYMI, here’s the link for my updated bracektology I put out on 12/26!
The beginning of this week will be a bit slower before we move fully into conference play and nightly high level matchups!
Saturday and Sunday’s viewing guides are going to be combined into one article and we will be back to daily guides on Monday!
Saturday:
3️⃣ We have exactly ONE D1 vs. D1 game and it is Cal State Northridge traveling to Stanford to take on the Cardinal! Game tips at 8:00 on ACC Extra. Expect Stanford to win by double digits. NET: CSUN: 219, Stanford: 76
Sunday:
There really aren’t a ton of at-large impactful games today, but there is some upset possibility with a couple of at-large caliber teams, and there is some amazing WCC action!
Buy games: Texas Tech, Kansas State, Georgia Tech, SMU, Maryland, and Oregon. Reminder, Non-D1 games aren’t included here.
2️⃣ Le Moyne @ Boston College | 2:00, ACC Extra
If I were going to pick a game that could provide a little post-holiday upset, this one is high one the list. Le Moyne isn’t a pushover and Boston College might be the worst p5 team in the country. NET: Le Moyne 297, BC: 191
2️⃣ Harvard @ Colgate | 2:00, ESPN+
This is a really solid mid-major matchup that I’d expect to be close. Both teams are hovering around .500 on the year, but Harvard’s schedule has been tougher. NET: Harvard: 212, Colgate: 162
2️⃣ Liberty @ FIU | 2:00, ESPN+
C-USA opener for both teams! LU will come in a slight favorites overall, but this should be a really close game. Liberty needs to win games like these if they want to take the CUSA crown this year. NET: Liberty: 111, FIU: 173
3️⃣ Northern Colorado @ Colorado | 3:00, ESPN+
Per usual, I do my best to highlight as many of these regional rivalries as possible! This one is intriguing, and if Colorado isn’t ready, they’ll lose this one! NET: Northern Colorado: 137, Colorado 60.
2️⃣ Washington State @ Portland | 5:00, ESPN+
Yet another opportunity to watch Ace Glass hoop, this time in conference play! Ace is averaging 16 per game and has the ability to go off for 30 every night. Portland should provide a solid challenge, however! NET: Washington State: 169 Portland: 225
3️⃣ Santa Clara @ Oregon State | 6:00, ESPN+
Santa Clara has cooled off after starting hot, meanwhile, Oregon State doesn’t seem to have a ton of direction. This one feels like a must-win for Santa Clara in the WCC Race for 3/4th. NET: Santa Clara: 89 Oregon State: 178
3️⃣ Saint Mary’s @ Loyola Marymount | 7:00, ESPN+
Randy Bennett and the Gaels continue to thrive out west, despite other mid-majors not being able to have the consistency they do. LMU provides a solid test, but this is a game an at-large team should win! NET: Saint Mary’s: 28, LMU: 135
2️⃣ Gonzaga @ Pepperdine | 8:00, ESPN+
*Insert random comment about Gonzaga needing a better conference*. In all seriousness tho, playing road matchups over the next several months will be a challenge for the Bulldogs at times, but I don’t expect this to be one of them. NET: Gonzaga 4, Pepperdine 254.
3️⃣ San Francisco @ Seattle | 8:00, ESPN+
Under-the-radar matchup here! Both of these teams are solid, and both have tested some solid competition to start the year. Seattle at home might have the slight edge, but this feels like a toss-up! NET: San Francisco: 117 Seattle: 94
