Saturday Quick Hits:

I’ll have a full recap video out Sunday morning to talk about all of the implications from today’s crazy slate, but here are some quick highlights!

  • Wisconsin, Texas, Nebraska all pick up critical road wins.
  • Auburn pulls off an impressive upset over Arkansas.
  • Florida with a dominant performance to take down Tennessee. The Vols are tough to figure out at times this year and are playing different than I’m used to for Barnes teams.
  • Houston wins their 16th consecutive road game (a school-record), beating Baylor by 22 in Waco.
  • Utah State dominates Boise in Idaho. This result may really kill the Bronco’s hopes.
  • Kentucky pulls away from Mississippi State in the 2nd to impress. However, Lowe is hurt… again.
  • UCLA takes care of Maryland in their brief pitstop in LA.
  • Seton hall takes care of Georgetown in DC behind a strong 2nd half.
  • Ole Miss beats Missouri in a result that unravels what the Tigers had done this week in Lexington a bit.
  • Clemson – Tournament team. Beating Notre Dame by 15 in South Bend.
  • Belmont comes back from a 19 point 1H deficit and wins by 2.
  • Virginia Tech fends off a feisty Cal team to get to 13-4 and 2-2 in ACC play.
  • Saint Louis avoids a bad loss, beating La Salle by 12.
  • Texas A&M is off to a 3-0 start in SEC play, beating Oklahoma by 7. OU is in a tailspin, while A&M is close to being in.
  • Villanova avoids disaster, beating Marquette by 2.
  • St. Johns dominates Creighton, moving to 4-1 in the Big East. SJU has steadied themselves this week. Creighton is still sitting outside.
  • NC State exploded for 113 points today AT Florida State. Well done, Wolfpack!
  • Miami (fl) beat Georgia Tech 91-81.
  • George Mason moves to 16-1 after beating VCU. Outside shot at an at-large?!

Sunday’s Games:

Illinois @ Iowa | Noon, FOX

This feels like a Big Noon football game we would see on a Saturday. However, it’s hoops! Iowa is currently favored by 1.5. Illinois is currently a 4 seed, while Iowa projects as a 5. This is a huge game!

Memphis @ FAU | 1:00, ESPN2

Memphis has just not looked like themselves this year, however, they’re 2-0 in American play so far. However, FAU is 2-1 and is in a solid spot overall in conference play. FAU is favored by 1.5 currently.

North Texas @ Wichita State | 3:00, ESPNU

Both teams are 1-2 on the year in American play, and this game is a great opportunity for one of them to grab some momentum! Wichita is favored by 6.5 currently.

Wright State @ Oakland | 3:00, ESPN2

These are the two best teams in the Horizon league so far this year, and two teams I expect to see competing for a tournament birth in a couple of months. Currently, the battle tested Oakland is favored by 4.5.

Cincinnati @ UCF | 5:00, ESPN2

This rivalry matchup rarely fails to deliver. UCF currently projects as a 7/8 seed and this would be a Q3 home result. Cincinnati is on life support and if they don’t win this one they’re in a lot of trouble. UCF is favored by 3.5.

Northwestern vs. Rutgers | 5:00, Peacock

Neither team is in the tournament currently, but this should be fun. Northwestern is favored by 4.5.

Ohio State @ Washington | 6:00, Peacock

The Buckeyes continue their western trip, taking on the Huskies who have been a bit of an enigma this year and extremely hard to figure out. Ohio State needs to win this one if they’re going to stay in my projected field. Washington favored by 2.5 currently.
